Al Noori Muslim School: Building C – 3 storey building over a basement carpark and attached multipurpose main hall
A&A Structural Solutions was engaged by Al Noori Muslim School Design and construct the proposed facility comprising a 800m2 three storey school building over a 2000m basement carpark and attached 1200m2 main hall. The facility comprised of two functional building uses, each having a unique construction technique and structural requirements. The facility was design managed and built by Amaan, utilising pre-cast tilt up wall construction and prefabricated structural steel elements for the main hall and stair wells, the design and construction planning enabled the construction to take place without the need to utilise in-situ form work for the free standing stair wells which were required to brace and support the portal frame steel structure for the main hall, and providing stability to the three storey building.
The site constraints and traffic implications required a well thought through construction methodology that could be implemented and built on time and within budget, Amaan utilised the hollow core slab system to significantly reduce the concrete volume for each floor, dramatically increasing the efficiency and completion of the concrete pours. Further, the utilisation of pre-cast tilt up construction, and structural steel elements unlocked the critical path issues identified early in the piece, and in combination with the pre-cast hollow core planks, we were able to also minimise onsite construction hours which in turn enhances our safety working around the school and significantly reduces risk to both the construction personnel and the community at large.
